Abstract

This study aimed to understand the process of pedagogical retraining on the trombone, based on a self case study of a musician diagnosed with Focal Task-Specific Embouchure Dystonia. It contains bibliographic research, a brief reflection on brass pedagogy, and a retraining report. The latter describes a musician who managed to reverse a dystonic condition through an early diagnosis followed by successful pedagogic retraining, allowing him to continue acting as a trombonist in a major Brazilian orchestra. During the final considerations, some notes are indicated for the continuity of the debate and discussion on the subject.
