Abstract

This text aims at determining the musical and pianistic elements found in Claudio Santoro’s (1919-1989) Paulistana n. 7 (1953), a work which embodies many stylistic traits of his second compositional period. Presenting some facts related to Santoro’s life and works around the time Paulistana n. 7 was composed, and a brief formal analysis, the authors establish connections between the pianistic writings of Santoro’s work and his contemporaries Villa-Lobos, Mignone, Guarnieri, Fructuoso Vianna and Lorenzo Fernandez.
