"Occupy Brazil":
configuring a network of reactions

The year of 2013 was marked by a series of popular demonstrations in Brazil. Duringdaily monitoring of activities by Brazilian streets,a movementnamed “Occupy Brazil”(that gathers signatures “OccupyBrazil”and “Occupy Brazil”, as indicated by references in their spaces on the network ) drew attention because of the diversity of digital tools used: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, blog and a type of Storify. These features constitute the universe of the study and the Twitter account @OccupyBrazil, the sample shall. In order toanalyze the Twitter account of the movement “Occupy Brazil”. To conduct the research were use: the mechanisms of “Twitter Advanced Search”(TAS) and open source social networks monitor software, TweetStats,Twitaholic and TwitterCounter. The data identify a strong relationship with Facebook ́s movementpage;using the English language, including major hashtags; asmall number of retweets and the mainly unidirectional character of the account. The analysis made it possible to verify that the account @OccupyBrazil operates in two main areas: the disclosure of the actions of the Occupy movement around the world and structuring anetwork of reactions, while the second is still in design phase.
