Abstract

This article seeks to understand, from the pandemic context, the procedures adopted by telejournalism producers in six broadcasters in Belém (PA) to combat disinformation in content received via WhatsApp. The discussions are made in the light of the concepts 'Informational Disorder' (WARDLE and DERAKHSHAN, 2017; WARDLE, 2019) and 'Pseudojournalism' (TRÄSEL, 2018). To reach the objectives of this research, a qualitative approach methodology was adopted, applying an online questionnaire, between January 12 and 23, 2022, which reached 28 respondents - about half of the TV producers in the capital of Pará. The main results of this research indicate that all producers use WhatsApp in their verification routines and that the application has gained relevance in the coronavirus health crisis. They also indicate that these professionals feel responsible for combating misinformation, but face conflicts in carrying out their work, especially due to the accumulation of functions and the precariousness of the position.

Elaide Martins, Federal University of Pará (UFPA)

Journalist from the Federal University of Pará (UFPA), Master in Social Communication from the Methodist University of São Paulo and PhD in Social and Environmental Sciences from the Center for Higher Amazonian Studies ? NAEA/UFPA. He has professional experience in telejournalism, cyberjournalism, audiovisual and print journalism. She is a professor at the Faculty of Communication (Facom) and at the Graduate Program in Communication, Culture and Amazonia (PPGCOM) at UFPA, developing research on convergence, internet, transmedia journalism and innovations in journalism and acting as a mentor in undergraduate courses, Masters, PhD and Scientific Initiation. Coordinates the Transmedia Journalism research project ? characteristics and conceptions in the archeology of a concept, the Research Group Innovation and Convergence in Communication - InovaCom (CNPq/UFPA) and coordinated the Research Group Interactions and Technologies in the Amazon-ITA (CNPq/UFPA-UNAMA). She is a Post-Doc researcher at the Graduate Program in Journalism at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), where she is also a member of the Center for Hypermedia Studies and Production Applied to Journalism (Nephi-Jor). She is a research partner at the Brazilian Association of Journalism Researchers (SBPJor), participating in the Network for Applied Research in Journalism and Digital Technologies (JorTec).

George Miranda, Programa de Pós-graduação em Comunicação, Cultura e Amazônia (PPGCom), da Universidade Federal do Pará (UFPA)

George Miranda has a degree in Social Communication, qualification in Journalism, from the Federal University of Pará (UFPA), and a postgraduate degree in Digital Marketing from Estácio University. He is a master's student at the Postgraduate Program in Communication, Culture and Amazonia (PPGCOM) at UFPA, in the line Communicational Processes and Mediatization in the Amazon. He participates in the research group Innovation and Convergence in Communication (InovaCom), from the same institution. Currently, he works as a text editor at Record TV Belém and is a press agent for the City Hall of Barcarena, northeast of Pará, Brazil. He is also the content director of the monthly printed newspaper Barcarena Agora, which is distributed free of charge in the municipality. He has experience in communication agencies, press relations, radio, TV, online and printed media.
