O filme Nise: O coração da loucura e o silenciamento estrutural das mulheres cientistas no Brasil

ABSTRACT: This article analyses the film Nise: The heart of madness (2015), directed by Roberto Berliner, that delves on the life of Brazilian psychiatrist Nise da Silveira during her years in the Centro Psiquiátrico de Engenho de Dentro. The research proposes to analyse the characters Nise and Ivone, considering how their diegetic realities dialogue with the history of the women scientists in Brazil and how they face the structural silencing in their area. Theories from Rosenstone (2010), Ribeiro (2017), and Garland-Thomson (2005) were utilized to fundament, respectively, discussions relating to the role of historical cinema and cinebiographies, the structural silencing, and feminist disability studies. Through this study and the data collection of gender inequality reports from IBGE, we concluded the importance of the dialogue between this cinebiography and the reality of women scientists of Brazil, since we consider the importance of the present in all representations of the past.
