THE EMPOWERMENT OF FAMILY FROM ORGANIC GARDENS: THE CASE OF SETTLEMENT FILHOS DE SEPÉ – VIAMÃO/RS

This article is a synthesis monograph research presented to the Specialization in Family Agriculture Peasant and Education Course, the Postgraduate Program in Rural Extension of Federal University of Santa Maria. From of large concentration of land and income in rural areas of the country, the social movements struggling for land seek alternatives that enable the reproduction of family farming through the settlements of land form reform. However, settled families do not always achieve sufficient autonomy to improve their quality of life. This work brings, in this sense, an analysis of the productive organization adopted by the settled families in seeking empowerment and environmental sustainability. To this end, it was we built a theoretical framework and analysis of data collected during field work, beyond to living for two years in community-time this specialization. It became apparent that the productive activity of organic vegetable, engendered by the productive organization of settled families, has contributed to their empowerment, enabling better quality of life and social inclusion in different spheres. The work shows different perspectives of family socio-productive organization, as well as various forms of empowerment.Downloads
