This article seeks to carry out a geographical analysis of state public schools in the state of Santa Catarina between the years 1911 and 1945. To do so, it aims to investigate aspects of historicity and the role of Santa Catarina oligarchies, especially the Ramos family, in objectification of teaching as a project to consolidate nationality, but also to maintain and increase the power of political and economic influence in the Santa Catarina territory. The explanation of this study is first characterized by which geographic analysis is used, explaining how the categories of analysis of geographic space – form, function, structure and process – can be intelligible and dialectical in the search for a totality regarding the topic addressed here. Subsequently, a description of the Santa Catarina oligarchies is made, explaining their historical origins and influences in the economic and political field. It stands out how the management of Vidal Ramos and Nereu Ramos were decisive for the reform of education in Santa Catarina in that period, developing training based on nationalism, the appreciation of national symbols, and the feeling of belonging to the territory. Finally, the persi analysis is presented, demonstrating how the spatial organization of state public schools in Santa Catarina, between 1911 and 1945, became a strategy for consolidating the power of the aforementioned oligarchies in that period, especially the Ramos family. It used its political influence to establish Portuguese-Brazilian culture as preponderant in the state, to the detriment of Germanic culture. In the final considerations, the forms, functions, structures and processes of state public schools are analyzed, seeking to understand how such a concrete reality can be understood as a totality.
