The reflections I present here have two main goals: on one hand, to summarize the history and the essential relations that permeate modernity, Protestantism and secularization, and, on the other hand, to analyze Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s theological conception on the secularization process. In fact, although these three phenomena cannot be thought separately, and given the vast literature and the different visions that have been developed around them, the emphasis must necessarily be placed upon one of these phenomena and one of the perspectives related to them. Therefore, it is on the theological level that I focused my analyses and, more particularly, on Bonhoeffer’s conception regarding secularization.
