Emmanuel Lévinas situates his way of thinking from the Other, he breaks with the egological cycle that runs through Western philosophy since Socrates, he also breaks with the philosophy of the "Self". In this article, hospitality is characterized as an ethical shelter, as a place where occurs the ethical relation between the Self and the Other. The hospitality is presented through the Levinasian perspective, hospitality faced as openness and reception, posteriorly the notion of care linked to the perspective of Michel Foucault and Martin Heidegger, both have a different way of thinking about care, however, part of the “Self", the innerself. In approaching the reception, this gesture of welcome is placed as an opening to the Other, as a way of not dominating him, of themetizing him or capturing him through a dominating knowledge. Welcoming as openness and care, as hospitality to the Other that challenges and demands a response, a response that is ethical. In the face of globalization, perhaps the ethical model proposed by Lévinas is appropriate to discuss the strengthening of human bonds.
