In the comtemporary world, especially in the recent decades, we witness the strengthening of the security discourse, emphasizing the biological issue. Wars, incarcerations and boundary delimitations are put into action in the name of society’s defense and economic interests against threats that unbalance our daily lives, from the microscopic field until the “civilizing” principles. This article aims to analyze the war in Ukraine, which began in February 2022, highlighting the different ways in which Western society handles wars in its territory and in non-Western territories, based, above all, on the concept of sociogenesis proposed by philosopher Frantz Fanon. The present article seeks to investigate how racism structures Western society and how it establishes a distinction between who is “civilized” and who is “savage”, between the places where war is normalized and where it is a subject of horror. Moreover, the article investigates how racism, arising from colonialism, is perpetrated in the contemporary world, allowing certain populations to be dehumanized in comparison to Western hegemonic model. For this, as an attempt to diagnose the present, the article utilizes news reports during the course of the war and the book Black Skin, White Masks, by Frantz Fanon, as its main references.
