The exploration of new aspects about an author and work so widely discussed, requieres initially a statement of the point of view for the discussion. From the perspective of an observer alien to the closest set of philosophy and history, I discuss some milestones in the trajectory of Thomas Kuhn, from his studies in physics to the practice of oral history. Concentrating in part on an autobiographical account, I raise the importance of Kuhn as an educator in his trajectory. The points raised by him remain without adequate responses shared by the academy. On the other hand, clues in interviews conducted by him in his oral history project, suggest the relevance of the environment in which he was formed as a physicist for the idea of paradigm. Thomas Kuhn opened a path of dialogue between philosophy and history of science, used independently by contemporaries, and the idea of paradigm is briefly compared to another, that of thematic analysis, alluding to possible overlaps. Finally, we will see examples in which both the idea of paradigm and the structure of scientific revolutions escaped their areas of origin to influence several others without the slightest chance of controlling this movement.
