Objective: evaluate maternal and fetal possible risk factors related to premature births in the city of Franca-SP, included on group 10 of the Robson classification. Methods: this is an epidemiological, analytical, observational and retrospective case-control study, referring to those born in 2018. The information was taken from the Information System on Live Births (SINASC) developed by the IT department of the Unified Health System (DATASUS), and statistical analysis was performed. Results: according to SINASC there were 5,634 live births, 10.15% of them were premature, which corresponds to 572 newborns in Robson's group 10. The mother's marital status, education level, number of prenatal consultations and obstetric history were predictive factors. In addition, birth weight, congenital anomalies and fetal apgar were also influential. The most predictable fetal variable for preterm birth was the existence of congenital anomalies, as these newborns were 2.01 times more likely to be born premature. Conclusion: sociodemographic conditions, prenatal and fetal status are related to prematurity. The relevance of identifying these factors during prenatal care is highlighted, for adequate intervention for pregnant women, as well as the improvement of public health policies, expanding the result and comparing it with other realities.Downloads
