Abstract

For Kardec, its founder, spiritism would essentially be a philosophy based on scientific and moral implications, not being, thus, considered a religion. As regards spiritism, it is clearly perceived the invitation to take care of both the body and the soul as main condition in order to attain physical and spiritual health. This work comprises the spiritual surgeries practiced at Spiritual Centre Diogo de Vasconcelos Lisboa, in João Pessoa, Paraíba. In relation to the methodology, it was used the thematic oral history while analyzing both the person’s discourses submitted to the treatment as well as the medium’s, once in medianimic action, who rendered voice to the spiritual physician so that the processes occurred during treatment could be related. Among the three documented cases which make up the Master’s Dissertation in Religion Sciences at UFPB, from this article’s first author, it was selected to be presented here, one which refers to a thyroidectomized lady, whose identity is protected under the fantasy name of Violet.
