Abstract

The significant increase in publications on spirituality and health is associated with the recognition of the importance of spirituality in caring for the sick person. The quest to know and understand the most diverse forms of spirituality is of paramount importance so that spiritual care can be integrated into patient care. The aim of this article is to present spirituality from the perspective of the epistemologist Marià Corbí - the human quality and the profound human quality - and its contribution to the health area, whether in dealing with patients or in the training of health professionals. Following a bibliographical analysis methodology, this work presents the discipline of axiological epistemology and its presuppositions, with an emphasis on the IDS-ICS triad, which are attitudes and aptitudes that lead us to cultivate human quality and deep human quality. In this work, we present an innovative perspective for approaching spirituality, going beyond the traditional concepts of mythical epistemology, beliefs and religious doctrines. In this context, it is considered to represent a contribution to research and application in sectors and circumstances that transcend the scope of religious institutions. In this work, our focus is on the health sector.
