Resumo

The Guaribas Biological Reserve is one of the few remnants of the northern part of the Atlantic Forest preserved as a conservation unit. Surveys of mammals in the Reserve began in 1982 and up to date at least 20 projects have been developed in the area. Most of the collected material is kept in the collection of the Universidade Federal da Paraíba. These specimens are the basis of the list of mammals presented here. We identified 70 species belonging to 60 genera, 23 families and 8 orders. Museum numbers of voucher specimens are given as well as a list of georeferenced collecting points. The mammals of the Reserve are representative of the mammal fauna known in the Atlantic Forest of Paraiba and, so far, it has the highest diversity recorded north of the São Francisco River.
