A recepção nórdica na Itália: La morte di Parsifal (A morte de Parsifal), de Agostino John Sinadinò, 1906

Abstract

This article presents an analysis and the first Portuguese translation of the poem “La Morte di Parsifal” by the Italian Symbolist poet A. J. Sinadinò, published in 1906 in the journal Poesia. This work provides an annotated version of the poem, contextualizing it within Italian Symbolism and its relationship with Richard Wagner's opera. The analysis accompanying the translation explores how the decadent reinterpretation of the Grail myth, despite lacking explicit Nordic references, engages with reception studies of Norse mythology. It is argued that the poem's pagan elements and thematic resonance, which subvert the Wagnerian ideal of redemption, connect it to the field of Scandinavian Studies, demonstrating its cross-cultural relevance.
