Abstract

The approach to the film The Vikings and the TV series Vikings, from a comparative study, is of interest to understand that, although they start from the same historical fact, the conjugation of some formal elements, such as the construction of the characters, determines their structure and their connection with a certain model of representation. The objective of this work is to demonstrate how, in classic cinema, the characters, like the rest of the elements that make up the film, are subjected to the narration while, in the television series, in which the viewers hold an active position, the characters acquire a psychological dimension that determines their functionality within the story
