According to the times in effect, women's social roles, and consequently their psychological and behavioral traits, are altered. These changes are directly reflected in art, especially in literature, and, later, in cinema. In this sense, the main objective of this article is to investigate the figure of Ophelia, through a comparative analysis between the play Hamlet (1601), by William Shakespeare, and the film Ophelia (2018), directed by Claire McCarthy, considering the similarities and differences found in the literary and filmic texts. For this, we will use as a theoretical contribution the studies of Pereira e Rosenfield (2020); Ubersfeld (2005); Carvalhal (2006), among others.
