Abstract

An analysis of articles published in INEP’s Brazilian Journal of Pedagogical Studies, in the period 1944-74, which refer to the institutionalisation of educational research in Brazil. The objective is to analyse 2383 citations which appear in 206 articles, from the optic of the following categories: impact of authors and system of exclusion from the process of selection of articles for publication in the journal. The results are discussed in the light of works on the knowledge production context and authors who focus on the participation of the same in governmental organs. There 26 are clear signs that the Journal was faithful to the ideology of the State, considering that its selection process was based on a system of exclusion which involved the non-publication of articles written by authors who were not tuned to state, and more specifically, Ministry of Education thinking in particular periods of government studied.
