Abstract

The globalization of the economy has led to the emergence of numerous multinational companies, largely due to technological advancements that have facilitated the remote hiring of professionals from all parts of the world. In this article, we discuss potential intercultural barriers between multinational startups of Chinese origin and their Brazilian employees, aiming to develop a conflict mediation proposal based on the cultural scale of analysis proposed by Meyer (2015). Results suggest that the main intercultural asymmetries faced by Brazilians are related to communication, differences in negotiation practices, and hierarchical structures. The article concludes that Chinese multinational startups operating in Brazil should consider the cultural differences between these two countries to promote a more inclusive work environment, which will lead to increased productivity, job satisfaction, and a more significant contribution to the company's growth.
