Abstract

The paper of this study was to test the effectiveness of a new model of trap made from PET soda bottles from 2 liters to capture insects, thereby providing a useful tool for those packages that have become one of the modern environmental problems destiny. 3 openings of 5x5 cm were made, with distance of 6 cm from one to another, leaving an apparatus for landing insects. We used 4 types of baits. We collected eight orders of insects. The highest incidence was the Hymenoptera. The traps that captured the largest amount were with non-alcoholic beer and pineapple juice and that was the lowest captured with passion fruit juice. Regarding diversity, the trap with cashew juice collected 7 orders; those who collected the lowest diversity were with beer and pineapple juice). These results demonstrated that the new model is efficient trap for catching insects, suggesting more a useful target for these packages.
