Skin-deep: A reading of “Ela e sua janela”, a song by Chico Buarque

Abstract

This study aims at analysing the song “Ela e sua Janela”, “She and her Window”, by Chico Buarque, using for its basis, the concept of sexual desire proposed by Gerard Pommier. In the song by Chico Buarque the woman appears as the subject of desire. This notion breaks with the idea imposed by a patriarchal paradigm or by culture, that women desire passively.
