O “CONFLITO DE NONOAI”: UM MARCO NA HISTÓRIA DAS LUTAS PELA TERRA NO RIO GRANDE DO SUL - 1978-1982

Abstract

The text analyzes the conflict over land between settlers and Indians in Indigenous Reserve of Nonoai, north of Rio Grande do Sul state, at the end of the 1970s. Such conflict crystallizes an indigenous struggle in the Southern Brazil to cope the historical processes of reduction and extinction of their land. The trigger of this conflict and the expulsion of settlers from the interior of this reserve will be a mark in the in the establishment of great social movement of struggle for land in Rio Grande do Sul state. The paper reflects on the historical processes in which these two subjects social, subordinate, become victims of agricultural policies wrong.
