Abstract

In the Brazilian modern context in the beginning of the twentieth century, to understand the meaning that the woman carries out is important to understand the conflicts that she passes for living together in the spaces of “capitalist seduction”. Honor, family and nation worried so much religious authorities of the decades of 20’s and 30’s as the political and Professional elites. Many participants of the Diário de Pernambuco were certain to reaffirm the common place of the feminine, scared with the visibility that the woman had won in the last years. In front of that problematic, this text objectifies to show, by the speeches that won visibility through referred newspaper, the mistreatments that the woman assumes at the stages offered by the Brazilian modernity, scaring the country, juridical, religious and civil authorities that were positioned contrary to the new elaborations of the feminine.
