Abstract

The present text aims to make considerations about the dialogue between aging, pandemic and syndemic. Supported by fieldwork in a Long-stay institution for the elderly (Ilpi) situated in the outback of the Pernambuco State, the article is divided into three moments. In the first, we propose to situate aging in the present moment and the consequences that the pandemic has brought to this age group. In the second we will describe the institution, highlighting aspects that dialogue with the concept of syndemic and in the third, through the story of one of the residents who died of Covid-19, we will make some final reflections on the importance of inserting in our analyses the syndemic perspective.
