VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN IN THE COLLEGE: A STUDY ON LATIN AMERICAN SCIENTIFIC PRODUCTIONS

Abstract

The universities have presented themselves as a place of intense violence, affecting mainly women. Given this scenario, we seek to understand what actions Latin American universities have proposed to tackle violence against women. For this purpose, an integrative literature review was carried out, based on searches in the CAPES and Scielo Periodical Portal. 40 scientific articles were selected for this review. The results show that universities have mostly created protocols to face violence, in addition, there is an intense mobilization of women through the formation of collectives and the making of complaints on social networks. We understand that educational institutions must mobilize themselves beyond the mere creation of protocols, including a gender perspective and providing meetings for reflection and knowledge on the theme of violence against women. Campaigns, conversation circles, creation of educational and informational materials about violence against women in the university environment should be promoted. Still, it should be taken into account that although violence has been more frequent in relation to students, anyone, regardless of their place in the institution, may be exposed to different types of violence.
