AUTOMATION: the insertion of library in information technology

Abstract

Information Technology has contributed for the existence of a great variety of library automation softwares in the Brazilian market: free, open, commercial or specialized ones, for large or small collections. In this context, the usage of one of those programs has become indispensable for an effective insertion of the library in information technology. This research aims to demonstrate, from the proposal of a choice method for library automation software, the necessity of choosing a program that suits the specific needs of the information center, using evaluative resources available in specialized literature.
