SWOT ANALYSIS OF THE LIBRARY OF FEDERAL INSTITUTE OF CEARÁ IGUATU CAMPUS

Abstract

This research addresses planning in unities of information, with the objective of identifying strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats in the library of library of Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Ceará (IFCE) Iguatu Campus, through SWOT Analysis. Develops a literature review on library planning and SWOT Analysis, based on the ideas of Kotler and Keller (2018) and Kotler and Armstrong (2015). It uses bibliographic research and the application of the SWOT Analysis method by Kotler and Keller (2018) as methodological procedures. It presents a case study, with qualitative analysis, of the library of Cajazeiras Unit of the IFCE Iguatu Campus. In view of the mapping of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the analyzed variables of the Library under study, it is possible to identify the many problems existing in this information unit, with eight viable execution strategies related to services, institutional relations, the collection, technological infrastructure and physical infrastructure/facilities, which can be incorporated into the planning process of the analyzed information unit.
