In this study, we explore the concepts of the thinker Henry Wallon (1879-1962) to highlight the importance of affection in interpersonal relationships at the Municipal Library Ciro Vieira Da Cunha, in Castelo City, Espírito Santo State, Brazil. We investigated how affection and emotional memory influence personal identity and the construction of knowledge. Through bibliographical research and direct observation, we evidenced the presence of affection in the interactions between librarians and users, influenced by the sociocultural context. The results highlight the relevance of incorporating the affective dimension in the training of librarians and in their professional practices, promoting welcoming and empathetic environments that enrich reading and learning experiences, strengthening the role of the library as a social and inclusive space for the entire community.
