Abstract

The purpose of this article deals with the issue of custody, custody, organization and management of information,
which is the raw material of scientifically systematized knowledge in large institutions in the cultures of the
modern world. Special focus is given to the contribution of information technology and the role of the so-called
digital repositories that currently have contributed to the dissemination and access to information. The work
addresses, as examples of these repositories, the Portal de Periódicos of CAPES and the Institutional Repository
of UFAL (Riufal).
