Abstract

This study examines the perceptions of librarians from the Brazilian Commission of University Libraries (CBBU) discussion list regarding the digital book platform Minha Biblioteca (MB). Using a mixed-methods approach with bibliographic review, document analysis, and questionnaires, the research evaluates MB’s advantages and challenges. Findings indicate usability and content as strengths, while inflexible contracts and high costs remain obstacles. The study concludes that MB can be a relevant alternative for higher education institutions, provided its adoption involves proper negotiation and detailed contracts with clearly defined obligations.

Nanci Elizabeth Oddone, Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO)

Nanci Oddone (Rio de Janeiro, 1953) has a BA in Portuguese Language and Literature and a BA in Librarianship and Documentation. Specialised in Publishing, she has a Master degree and a PhD in Information Science. In the academic year of 2008-2009 she has been a Visiting Professor at Kent Law School, University of Kent, Canterbury, United Kingdom, where she conducted interdisciplinary studies on the international system of copyright and its ideological, political and cultural implications. At the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Unirio) she works at the Graduate Program in Librarianship and at the Undergraduate Program in Librarianship.
