Acessibilidade em bibliotecas de Institutos Federais
percepções de bibliotecárias na Região Metropolitana de Goiânia
Abstract
Accessibility is a fundamental principle of inclusion and the democratization of access to information. In the context of Professional and Technological Education, the libraries of the Federal Institutes play a role in ensuring equitable access to knowledge. This study aimed to analyze librarians' perceptions of accessibility in libraries at Federal Institutes in the metropolitan region. This qualitative, exploratory study was linked to the Postgraduate Program in Professional and Technological Education (ProfEPT). Data were produced through semi-structured interviews conducted with librarians from the Federal Institute of Goiás and the Federal Institute Goiano, and the material was analyzed using content analysis. The results show that the participants recognized accessibility as a central element of inclusion, associating it with physical, informational, and attitudinal dimensions. However, weaknesses persist across the architectural, instrumental, and programmatic dimensions, as well as in the insufficiency of assistive technologies and systematic professional training. It is concluded that consolidating truly inclusive libraries in Federal Institutes requires planning, ongoing investment, and the incorporation of accessibility as a guiding principle for information services.
