This article aims to develop a plan for the work of children's and young adult literary reading mediators in libraries committed to sustainable development. To this end, it adopts the contributions of Feres (2023) regarding studies on the discourse of love in addressing “divisive” themes conveyed in illustrated books of children's and young adult literature. In addition, it considers the guidelines of the UN 2030 Agenda to discuss reading strategies in libraries to promote a more inclusive society. This is a qualitative study that discusses the differences between illustrated books and books with illustrations and presents a proposal for reading mediation action for welcoming and social transformation through the discourse of love. It joins research that has already investigated illustrated fictional narratives for children and young adult audiences, as well as adding to studies that have already investigated ways of acting for the practice of literary reading in libraries with a view to promoting well-being for all.Downloads
