This article aims at presenting an experience report with reading and production of the genre instapoetry, carried out with students of the 8th year of elementary school at a private school in the city of João Pessoa, capital of the state of Paraíba. This is an interventionist action-research, and the data generated allowed a qualitative interpretative analysis. Thus, developing reading and writing skills in the target language is made possible by encouraging students to read instapoems, a type of cyberpoetry (SANTAELLA, 2007). Throughout the project, the students had contact with the reading and analysis of poems by the Indian-Canadian writer Rupi Kaur, so that they could then share their impressions about the texts read and also express their feelings when producing this genre. The research results pointed to the effective contribution of the elaborated didactic proposal for the development of reading and writing processes in English.
