The objective of this piece was to investigate how the cultural contents of Argentina are represented on the first volumes of the three collection of spanish textbooks (LD) approved by the Programa Nacional do Livro Didático (PNLD) to be adopted by the brazilian public high schools. Supported on the conception defended by Serrani (2005) and Laraia (2008), that the language and the culture of a nation are intrinsically connected and that learning a foreign language should allow the interaction with others and their culture, we investigated if the materials include contents that value cultural aspects from Argentina, following the orientations from the guideline documents for the Basic Education. For that, the documentary and bibliographic research was used as a method to colect data, through the analysis of books, following a quantitative and qualitative approach. The selection and the categorization of data followed the script proposed by Byram (1193 apud Batista, 2010) to the evaluation of cultural contents on foreigner language teaching textbooks. The analysis allowed to conclude that only the first of Cercanía joven gives considerable space to many aspects of the Argentinian culture.
