That said, the objective of this article is to reflect on perversion in its relationship with the manifestations of violence/criminality, in order to favor an observation of the phenomenon of perversion beyond its exclusively structural aspect, demonstrating it as a broad mechanism, which is intrinsically related to culture, especially as a social symptom, given that it does not operate only in the particular scope of each individual, but also as a social expression. Based on psychoanalytic perspective theory, which understands perversion as an expression of human subjectivity, we will seek to analyze the reasons for the acts of violence perpetrated by the protagonist of the short story O Cobrador, by Rubem Fonseca, in order to demonstrate how his characters provide a glimpse of violence as a form of refusing castration, as a response to the malaise that operates in all of us, but in a more flagellating way in relation to those who are on the fringes of the social scenario.
