THE CHALLENGES OF THE POST-PANDEMIC RECOVER

Between the legacy of isolation and the collective reconstruction of popular legal aid groups

Abstract

This study investigates the challenges inherent to the return to in-person activities for Popular University Legal Aid (AJUPs) groups in the post-pandemic period. The research focuses on reports from online meetings, or "Dialogue Circles," organized by the Flor de Mandacaru Popular Extension Center (NEP) with other AJUPs across Brazil. The study's objective is to analyze the current difficulties that these groups face as remnants of the resumption process. A qualitative methodology was adopted, based on participant observation and a reflective analysis of the re-articulation experience of this national network. The findings conclude that persistent challenges, such as member inactivity, obstacles in integrating new participants, internal disarticulation among partner social movements, and the workload of some members, are lingering effects of the pandemic.
