The tools for social interaction and communication available on the web favoring informal communication and collaboration among members of the scientific community. This research examines the use of collaborative tools for students to graduate in Information Science. To meet the specific objectives: a) to identify the profile of the students, b) describe the use of collaborative tools and c) to verify the use of collaborative tools for building the theoretical framework of the research. Resorted to the questionnaire as a tool for data collection, whose analysis was done by descriptive statistics. The survey results showed that with the exception of Web 2.0 tools geared exclusively for scientific use, use of other Web 2.0 tools is irrelevant to getting bibliography. It is observed that 80% of respondents who use the portals of periodicals, nearly half use the platforms to the scientific community and e-mail to obtain references bibliographies. However, a wide range of respondents reported not using Web 2.0 tools - blogs, microblogs, social networks and social bookmarks - for organizing the contents of your academic interest.
