Abstract

One of the greatest conceptual difficulties of Information Science at present has been the definition of Information and Knowledge. For this reason, the principal objective of this article is to work these two concepts as a form of contributing to a greater theoretical consolidation of Information Science. Nevertheless, due to the inherently interdisciplinary nature of this science, the concepts of Information and Knowledge will be approached from two different fields: those of Philosophy and of Information Science. This double approach contributed to a greater clarifying and historical foundation of the two terms, so necessary to Information Science.
