Abstract

Aborda conceitos de informação científica, tecnológica e para negócios. Relaciona estes conceitos aos serviços de referência e informação. Destaca que os serviços de informação mostram-se como uma evolução dos serviços de referência, evolução esta iniciada a partir da Segunda Guerra Mundial e apoiada pelo desenvolvimento das Tecnologias de Informação e Comunicação (TIC). Enfatiza aspectos do serviço de informação tecnológica, tanto em países desenvolvidos quanto no Brasil. Sublinha a importância destes serviços, justificando a preocupação com sua qualidade, na busca pela excelência. Sugere o uso de indicadores de desempenho, tanto para sua avaliação quanto para o controle de qualidade deste tipo de serviço.
