Editorial Policies

1. Open Access Statement Informação & Sociedade provides open, free, and immediate access to its content. Following the principle that making scientific knowledge freely available to the public fosters the global democratization of knowledge, all content is available free of charge, with no costs to the user or their institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author.

2. Peer Review Process Informação & Sociedade adopts a double-blind peer review system. The submitted manuscripts undergo a preliminary screening by the editorial team (desk review). When considered suitable for the journal's scope, they are sent to at least two external, independent reviewers who are experts in the manuscript's subject area. In case of divergence between the reviews, a third reviewer may be consulted. The final decision of acceptance or rejection rests with the editorial team. The estimated average time between submission and final decision is 16 weeks. This timeframe is an estimate and may vary, considering that the review process is conducted on a volunteer basis. Extensions may occur, especially due to the complexity of the manuscript, the availability of reviewers, and the time required to receive the reviews.

3. Anti-Plagiarism Policy In accordance with academic integrity guidelines, all manuscripts submitted to the journal undergo rigorous similarity checking and plagiarism detection using software such as iThenticate and/or CopySpider before being forwarded for peer review. Manuscripts showing evidence of plagiarism, self-plagiarism (recycling the author's own texts without citation), or undeclared use of Artificial Intelligence will be immediately rejected and archived.

4. Ethical Guidelines and Best Practices Informação & Sociedade strictly follows the guidelines and codes of conduct established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the principles of transparency and best practices of the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). Editors, reviewers, and authors are expected to act in accordance with the highest ethical standards, ensuring transparency, research integrity, data originality, and the appropriate resolution of any conflicts of interest.

5. Preservation Policy Publication Informação & Sociedade adopts long-term digital preservation policies to ensure its scientific content remains continuously accessible. The journal is a member of the Cariniana Network (Brazilian Network of Digital Preservation Services of IBICT), based on the LOCKSS system, to create permanent distributed archives. Furthermore, the journal is enabled in the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) and CLOCKSS, ensuring the preservation and restoration of the collection through a decentralized infrastructure.
