Abstract

The present work aims to analyze the dichotomy of the public and private spheres, analyzing their construction and deconstruction in the fluidity of the Information Society. For that, we opted for a historical analysis, using Hannah Arendt's thoughts as the main theoretical reference. Firstly, is was done a brief definition of the public and private spheres, the theme in a contextualized way, having as a starting point the French Revolution; in a second moment, the dichotomy was studied in the light of the Industrial Revolutions, reaching, finally, its analysis in the Information Society. Speculations then presented are not exhaustive to situate the fields of public and private spheres today. However, it was possible to point out, as conclusion, some good experiences of using networks to discuss issues in the public sphere, especially through digital activism.
