In the last decade, in the wake of neo-liberal policies that have grown stronger on the global stage, Latin America has become the stage for the rise of extreme right-wing governments marked by the defense of ultraconservative guidelines that put the possibility of a democratic project under suspicion and condition existence to what Miguel Vedda (2018) defined as a “sham farce” – farce of the farce. From the account of the growth of fascism and the provocation referred to – farce of the farce –, this article aims to defend the actuality of the studies on authoritarian personality developed by the Berkeley Group and to present a review on the nine categories of the Scale F, as elaborated in The authoritarian personality research, coordinated by Adorno (1950), as an adequate prism for the analysis of social phenomena related to the advance of neo-Nazism in the world level.
