Abstract

Objective: Translate the Living with Medicines Questionnaire into Portuguese, adapt it, assess its internal consistency and apply it to patients for the pilot study. Method: The questionnaire was translated and adapted according to the protocol established by ISPOR. Content validation was carried out by a panel of experts, who evaluated each item, assigning scores on the Likert Scale "totally disagree" to "totally agree", in order to analyze the degree of comprehensibility of the items and the internal consistency of the domains. After the necessary adjustments, the final Portuguese version of the questionnaire was reached. After adaptation and validation, a preliminary study was carried out with polymedicated patients. At the end of this stage, the instrument underwent the last adjustments. Results: The instrument's reliability is satisfactory, with internal consistency values of the domains ranging from 0.71 to 0.96. Of the 32 pilot study participants, 34.4% reported that their lives revolve around using their medications. Conclusion: The questionnaire is ready to be applied, it aims to obtain information to improve individualized pharmaceutical services according to the real needs of patients.
