This article addresses how eroticism is configured in the character Hyung in Han Kang's work The Vegetarian (2007). For Bataille (2023), eroticism is an imbalance in which the self consciously places itself. In this sense, this work seeks to highlight the erotic elements that lead the aforementioned character to a complete state of conscious imbalance in the face of erotic desire. This research strongly corroborates Georges Bataille's studies on eroticism. Other references are also added, which also contribute to the analysis proposed in this article. It is concluded that the character Hyung experiences sensations of imbalance and excess as forces that, although painful, can lead to a deeper and more liberating understanding of the human essence.
