Abstract

The lesbian thinker Monique Wittig, in questioning the binary sex relations that define two opposite social classes (men and women), argues that “lesbians are not women”, because they are not subjected to the same oppressions as the supposed “class of women”. We objectify to show that bichas, viados, caminhoneiras, sapatonas etc. promote a rupture with traditional notions of masculine and feminine through the way they are socially presented and understood, since they are also displaced from heterosexuality. So we see them as other processes of (dis)identification, since they are not located in the same spectrum of privilege, power and relational of those (cisgenders and hetorosexuals) inserted in the organization of classes of the feminist materialist thought.
