BETWEEN MOTHERHOOD AS LEARNING AND THE LEARNING OF CHILDREN:
AN ANTHROPOLOGICAL ANALYSIS AFTER THE PANDEMIC
Abstract
This article addresses the ways in which mothers learn to be mothers by taking care of their children; specifically, by taking care of how their children learn in relation to school and to life in general. We analyze the everyday practices that women display regarding the education, care, and schooling of their children, taking the accounts of their experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic as an analyzer. Based on the analysis of a set of open and in-depth interviews carried out with women with children in school ages in the Metropolitan Region of Buenos Aires, Argentina, motherhood is evidenced as a learning process. At the same time, we study the continuities and transformations that the pandemic implied on the scale of the daily life in households.
