Abstract

Persistent gender inequalities have among the challenges women's access to income. In rural areas, the difficulty is even greater. In 2006, in the municipality of São Ludgero, in the south of Santa Catarina, Brazil, farmers created the Fair of colonial products and later, in 2013, the Cooperative of Women Farmers and Artisans of St. Ludgero (Cooperação). In view of this, the objective was to study the role of these women in the search for autonomy and emancipation. It was concluded that women linked to Cooperação are protagonists of their actions by exercising control of production, marketing and management of the Fair and Cooperative.
