Violência de gênero e impunidade: um olhar sobre a violência doméstica e familiar contra as mulheres no Rio de Janeiro

Abstract

This study aims to reflect on domestic violence against women in the State of Rio de Janeiro, pointing to the aspect of impunity as one of the obstacles for victims to seek legal support. We start from the hypothesis that the delays and the inefficiency in attending to the request of the victims of domestic aggression are the main aspects that indicate the unbelief in the system of assistance and punishment of the defendants. From a theoretical point of view, in this article, authors such as Heleith Saffioti, Mary Del Priori, Pierre Bourdieu, among others, whose studies have emphasized gender issues both historically and in relation to male domination and patriarchy, elements that corroborate for the perpetuation and justification of violence suffered by women. Methodologically, we started with a bibliographical research on violence against women in the domestic space, through the discussion of male domination and patriarchal inheritance. For the discussion centered in the State of Rio de Janeiro, statistical data from the Women Dossier (prepared by the Institute of Public Security of Rio de Janeiro / ISP) were used and the data by States of the Federation presented by the Map of Violence - researches about the State of Rio de Janeiro; and the analysis of the results of questionnaires applied through the googledocs platform, aimed at women victims of domestic violence and their experience with the organs destined to their protection and punishment of the aggressors.
