Abstract

This essay uses the concept of Escrevivência by Conceição Evaristo in order to align itself with the theoretical production of black and chicanas feminists and outline a possible justification for the theoretical production arising from life experiences and permeated by the different intersectionalities inscribed in the situated bodies of the women. In the text that follows, I make two simultaneous moves: I try to position myself as a Muslim woman and a scholar of Islamic feminism from some biographical passages in order to support the subject of writing while I bring theoretical themes to the discussion of Islamic feminism both because they frame something of the experience of a collective and because they are narratives about decolonial feminisms that are still little known. The essay is divided into 5 parts. In the first, called Introduction, I approach the concept of Escrevivência. In the second part I take the experience of Ramadan to enter the discussion on racialized subjectivities. In the third part I present biographical asides in order to situate the emergence of Islamic feminism from a situated body-politics. In the fourth part, I briefly explore the rhetoric and thought of Muslim feminists, and I end with the Conclusion.
